International Burn Center
The International Burn Center, which was opened in 2020 on the occasion of Healthcare Workers’ Day of the country, has been serving our population since that day. The International Center with modern medical equipment from leading companies of the world offers specialized medical services to the population. This contributes to emergency care, timely diagnosis and treatment of patients with burn injuries. The International Burn Center has a capacity of 130 beds. The center’s structure includes a reception, consultative and diagnostic, endoscopic, laboratory and balneological, rehabilitation, hyperbaric oxygenation departments, as well as intensive care, resuscitation, plastic-rehabilitation surgery departments, adult and children’s inpatient units.
In the reception, which is located on the 1st floor of the Center, patients are admitted, and in the emergency department they are rendered first aid. In the Emergency Room, it is possible to admit 6 patients and provide medical care at the same time, as well as carry out the necessary laboratory tests, and conduct diagnostic examinations for patients with limited mobility using mobile medical devices. In this unit, emergency operations are performed on areas of the body damaged by burns on patients in severe cases.
The surgery unit, which is located on the 2nd floor of the Center, consists of 4 surgical rooms, where all conditions are created for performing of operations. All this makes it possible to carry out several operations simultaneously. This, in turn, gives an opportunity to achieve a quick recovery of patients with extensive burn wounds. Conditions have been created in the operating rooms for performing general surgical operations on the internals, neurosurgical, as well as traumatological operations in cases of combined burn wounds with severe injuries.
In the International Center Burn reconstructive operations for rough scars and contractures that form after burns are performed. In the postoperative rehabilitation period, appropriate treatment continues at the Recovery and Rehabilitation Department.
Special equipment and devices are intended to restore the work and surface body movement, which helps to reduce contractures. The department provides therapeutic measures through massage, physiotherapy, acupuncture, physical exercises and other treatment methods. The department has a modern wheeled vacuum apparatus designed to treat rough post-burn injuries through massage.
As is indicated in the multi-volume scientific and encyclopedic books by the National Leader of the Turkmen people Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov «Medicinal Plants of Turkmenistan», medicinal plants growing in our country, as well as healing waters are widely applied in protecting the health of citizens in our native land. One of such natural sources is the healing mineral water of the «Berzengi» spring. The action of mineral waters is determined by their chemical composition and the content of compounds (salts, ions). The Balneology Department operating at our Center is provided with water from the natural source «Berzengi». During the recovery period after burns, water treatment on an outpatient basis has a positive effect in preventing the formation of post-burn scars. This department has 4 healing baths. Removes bacteria from burn wounds within 72 hours without changing its composition, and is widely used in the general treatment of patients with burn wounds. It also eliminates intoxication that develops as a result of burns, removes necrotizing areas in wounds, and contributes to drying tissues and preventing the formation of keloid scars.
At the Hyperbaric Oxygenation Department, there are several pressure chambers, 2 pressure chambers are designed for the simultaneous treatment of 6 patients. Hyperbaric oxygenation provides improved cell regeneration, including burns.
In the consultative and diagnostic department, all conditions have been created for carrying out diagnostic measures using high-tech equipment, which make it possible to detect various diseases at an early stage.
In the Intensive Care Department, patients with burn injuries in serious condition receive specialized emergency medical care, the treatment wards of which are equipped with all necessary equipment. At the Intensive Care Department of the Center, special «Clinitron» beds are installed, which, contribute to the rapid healing of burn wounds with the help of disinfected air passing through quartz sand, the timely course of regeneration processes and, as a result, the rapid recovery of patients with severe burn injuries.
The Laboratory of the Center conducts general clinical, biochemical, serological, bacteriological and other tests.
The reanimobile of the Center with medical equipment that meets international standards is designed to provide specialized medical care at the site where patients receive burn injuries and inside the reanimobile itself.
Departments of the TSMU named after. M.Garryeva in the modern International Burn Center creates conditions for consultations of patients by the faculty of the department, providing methodological assistance to the doctors of the center and training highly qualified specialists in this area.
