In our country, large-scale work is being carried out at the state level to strengthen the health of the population and strengthen the fight against bad habits such as the use of tobacco products. Because a healthy society is the basis of a healthy state.

In 2011, Turkmenistan joined the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control, adopted in 2005. Our state is known in the world as a country free from factors that harm human health, as a country with the lowest level of consumption of tobacco products in the world. This is confirmed by the certificates issued to Turkmenistan by international organizations in this field. This is achieved through enormous efforts to preserve the health of citizens and activities carried out in the field of spiritual health of generations.

In order to increase the life expectancy of the population and promote a healthy lifestyle, the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan, together with the relevant ministries and sectoral management agencies and international organizations, «National Program for Turning Turkmenistan into a Tobacco-Free Country for 2022 – 2025» and the Action Plan for its implementation. It aims to create a national standard to determine the legal status of a tobacco-free country, with an emphasis on the implementation of policies and laws in this regard, strengthening the anti-tobacco system, reducing the demand for tobacco products among the population, and raising awareness about the negative consequences of its consumption. Expanding access to health services aimed at quitting smoking and treating nicotine addiction, as well as strengthening cooperation with national and international anti-tobacco advocates, were identified as a number of priority tasks.

Turkmenistan is effectively working to prevent harmful habits such as tobacco use and to provide assistance to those suffering from drug addiction. The country regularly organizes events to encourage the population to abstain from such habits. Efforts to strengthen willpower, gain family support, promote physical fitness, and develop innovative, scientifically based forms of treatment and prevention are carried out through the establishment of «Trust» services. In accordance with Order No. 87 of the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan, dated April 1, 2020, a «Trust Room» was created to provide medical and psychological services to residents of Ashgabat and the country's velayats, accessible via a single memorable phone number: «118».

There are 9 «Trust» centers operating throughout the country, established in 2012, which provide 24-hour services in Ashgabat and provincial centers. These centers play a vital role in promoting a healthy lifestyle in society and providing appropriate medical care when necessary.

At the «Trust» centers, medical professionals offer valuable advice to citizens who want to quit smoking and explain in detail how family members can help support those struggling with addiction. These centers provide advisory and methodological support on health issues to those most in need through the universal phone number «118».
