A brave woman, professional doctor – Sachly Dursunova

As it is known, the medical secondary vocational school built in the city of Arkadag was named after Sachly Dursunova. This is a clear indicator that in our country, in the Revival of a new era of a powerful state, human dignity is increasing, our countrymen, mentors, professionals in their field, who became famous for their activities in the name of the people and the country, are highly respected.


Sachly Dursunova is one of the compatriots who showed a magnificent example of patriotism, hard work and professionalism. She was born to the family of farmer in the village of Buzmeyin in 1918. Since childhood, left an orphan, she was raised in an orphanage. In the period from 1932 to 1937, she entered medical college in the city of Ashgabat and, having distinguished with perseverance and talent, graduated with high grades. The same year, that is, in 1936, she entered the Turkmen State Medical Institute. After graduating, she began to work as a doctor. In April 1942, Sachly Dursunova applied to the military commissariat for voluntary participation in the Great Patriotic War. As a result, she began military service as a doctor of the medical and sanitary battalion No. 534 of Rifle Division No. 62 at Stalingrad in April 1942. At that time, the help of doctors was very important for the defenders of Motherland. With her heroism, skillfulness and professionalism, the courageous Turkmen girl provided medical aid to thousands of soldiers. She contributed to the end of the Patriotic War with victory. Along with those who completely came through the Great Patriotic War, the captain of the medical service Sachly Dursunova was awarded several orders and medals for her heroism. Even after the great victory, she continued her military service in the military medical service, helping soldiers in need of treatment. And she returned to her homeland in September 1946.


And in the peaceful life Sachly Dursunova devoted all her diligence and work to protecting people's health. The captain of the medical service, Sachly Dursunova, was awarded the academic degrees “Candidate of Medical Science” in 1955, “Doctor of Medical Science” in 1972 for her significant scientific contribution to the fight against an infectious disease common in Central Asia in the middle of the 20th century and known as pendinka or cutaneous leishmaniasis, which is transmitted by mosquitoes when bitten, and for the results of scientific work that she conducted at the Institute of Epidemiology and Hygiene of the city of Ashgabat.


Sachly Dursunova carried out a lot of research projects for the development of medical science in our country. She was awarded the high title “Honored Doctor of Turkmenistan” for the comprehensive work carried out in the healthcare system. Sachly Dursunova won great respect as a true scientist and professional doctor, a person with a crystal soul. It is impossible to imagine a person who accomplished many noble deeds and earned honors in any other way.


It is of great importance to increase the honor of prominent representatives of the people. The path had travelled by personalities who became the pride of the people, the noble deeds they had accomplished are a model school for our happy youth.
