Central Dermatovenerological Hospital of the Directorate of Infectious Diseases Centers

This is evidenced by the words of the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov that the health, prosperous and happy life of the population of Independent and Neutral Turkmenistan is the main goal of the work being carried out.
Within the framework of the State Program “Saglyk”, adopted on the initiative of our Hero Arkadag and successfully implemented under the leadership of our esteemed President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, large-scale work is being carried out in the field of healthcare. The State Program “Saglyk” is the main direction and principle in the development of the healthcare sector of our independent state, including the dermatovenereological direction, prevention of infectious diseases, strengthening health and improving the quality of life, increasing the life expectancy of citizens, raising the population’s understanding of protection from infectious diseases.
Patients with acute, persistent skin diseases, infectious skin and venereal diseases who seek treatment in outpatient conditions in the dispensary department of the Central Dermatovenerological Hospital are provided with high-quality services. Diagnostic, therapeutic and observation measures are successfully carried out in outpatient conditions. In the department, patients have access to medical and cosmetology services using modern PUVA, excimer laser equipment.
In the dermatology, mycology and venereology departments of the hospital, laboratory tests and standard treatment of persistent skin diseases such as allergic dermatoses, photodermatoses, viral dermatoses, collagenoses, vasculitis, psoriasis, eczema and pemphigus, cutaneous leishmaniasis, dermatomycosis and infectious scabies, as well as sexually transmitted diseases are carried out in inpatient settings.
The hospital's physiotherapy department is equipped with various modern physiotherapy equipment. Here, PUVA therapy, hydrocolonotherapy devices, as well as a reflexology device, combined ultrasound and electrotherapeutic equipment, a quartz, electrotherapeutic device, a D’Arsenval device, a massage device, an infrared therapeutic device, bisulfite baths, and balneology methods are widely used. Positive results are achieved in the treatment of various skin diseases.
In the functional diagnostic department of the hospital, ultrasound, ECG, fluorography and additional examinations are performed to examine the patient’s internal organs.
In order to protect the population from infectious diseases, in the medical diagnostic office of the hospital, working citizens by profession, subject to medical examination, undergo periodic medical examinations for diseases that are transmitted through sexual intercourse, infectious, abdominal and intestinal diseases, tuberculosis infection, helminthiasis. If diseases are detected, patients are immediately sent for treatment. After health is restored, permission to return to work is issued.
The hospital has an express laboratory, where conditions have been created for conducting prompt diagnostics of sexually transmitted diseases, dermatophytosis from infectious skin diseases, cutaneous leishmaniasis, demodicosis, infectious scabies, the patient can receive the test results on the same day.
In 2022, dermatovenereologists participated via video link in conferences “Discussion of the program for revising the national clinical guidelines for the management of sexually transmitted diseases” with the participation of an expert from the European Regional Office of the World Health Organization (WHO), Dr. Daniel McCarthy of the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. He consistently held several conferences with specialists on revising the national clinical guidelines and held a three-day training seminar at the Central Skin and Venereal Diseases Hospital to finalize the guidelines. The national clinical guidelines are combined with the “New Guidelines for the management of sexually transmitted diseases” published by WHO. Together with the expert from the European Regional Office of the World Health Organization (WHO), Daniel McCarthy, the National clinical guidelines for the prevention and management of sexually transmitted diseases were developed. This clinical guideline was approved by the Academic Council of the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan and was introduced into the clinical practice of dermatovenereologists of the country in 2025.
In 2024, with the participation of Associate Professor of the Dermatovenerological Department of the Vitebsk Medical University of the Republic of Belarus, Candidate of Medical Sciences O. Zykova, together with specialists from the Central Dermatovenerological Hospital, several meetings were held on psoriasis, which is considered a skin disease. She held training seminars to revise and develop guidelines. Instructions for the treatment of resistant forms of psoriasis with complications that worsen the patient’s quality of life with a new modern drug “Adalimumab” were developed. After a complete examination of patients with psoriasis and the establishment of contraindications or indications, the implementation of therapeutic measures using the drug “Adalimumab” under strict medical supervision was started and the use of this drug has now been introduced.
The main part of the work carried out in the Central Dermatovenerological Hospital consists of preventive and explanatory measures. Work on preventing the spread of infectious skin diseases and sexually transmitted diseases, checking all those involved in sexual relations, timely treatment of identified patients, restoration of their health, and increasing knowledge about health are carried out consistently.
