Magazine «Saglyk»
A popular scientific magazine «Saglyk» of the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan is published since 1990. It is published once in two months in the Turkmen language. The electronic version of the magazine is available at «turkmenmetbugat.gov.tm», «metbugat.gov.tm».
The objectives of the magazine are to widely advocate the State program «Saglyk», to improve sanitary-hygienic education and awareness about healthy and unhealthy behaviors, to promote a health culture, to provide information on risk factors and theri prevention, to talk about the latest developments and achievements in medicine. The magazine has become a «family doctor» for the population.
The magazine is popular among readers due to coverage of vital medical issues using clear and understandable language, bright design. This is evidenced increase of the number of magazine’s subscribers.
The journal publishes articles on current topics, as well as useful advice from doctors and specialists in health protection and promotion, healthy nutrition, proper organization of the daily regimes, a better use of leisure, sports and physical activities, the adverse health effects of bad habits, stress, prolonged nervous tension, provides answers to readers’ questions.
On regular basis the magazine highlights the achievements and successes of the health of Turkmenistan, provides information on international conferences, meetings, exhibitions organized held in our country.
The main headings of the magazine are: «Women’s Health», «Child’s Health», «How are you, a teenager?», «Natural pharmacy», «Nature», «Diagnosis», «Psychology», «Living healthy is great!», «Beauty depends on nutrition», «Eat properly - be healthy!», «In a healthy body - healthy mind», «Sports Medicine», «Sport», «Questions – answers».
Under the heading «Natural Pharmacy» there are articles on medicinal plants and their impact on health, recipes of various concoctions, tinctures, infusions. Materials from an encyclopedic book by the National Leader of the Turkmen people Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov «Medicinal Plants of Turkmenistan» are used for articles under this heading.
Under the heading «Beauty depends on nutrition» expert nutritionists talk about the nutritional value of food products, such as fruits and vegetables, herbs and spices, meat and fish products, their impact on health, and also talk about a balanced diet.
Articles under «Psychology» heading cause great interest among readers, as the articles tell about people with different temperaments, characters, outlook, and relationships of people in the family and in society.
Articles on the health of mothers and children are given under headings «Women’s Health» and «Child Health».
Specialists of the leading clinics of the country, family physicians of health houses, the scientists and professors of the TSMU named after M.Garryyev are the consultants of the «Questions — Answers» heading. Readers can also contact them by phone or in their workplace. Frequently asked questions usually become the topics for future articles of the magazine.
Information on modem diagnosis methods, experts’ advice on the necessity and timeliness of medical examinations for various diseases is provided under the heading «Diagnostics».
The magazine publishes interviews with foreign scientists about their new scientific work, current trends in medicine, as well as interviews with representatives of public and international organizations such as the Red Crescent Society of Turkmenistan, the United Nations Population Fund, UNICEF and others.
